It’s time for #Shea fans to face the music! And I mean that
in a really good way.
One constant I’ve seen and heard since blogging about TGD are
the SONGS that this fan or that fan associate with Shaun and Lea. And of
course, the emotions that go with those songs have fluctuated as their story
has done—particularly since December.
There are lots of fans, and lots (and LOTS) of songs. And
there are probably #Shea playlists out there by the dozen already, but yeah--I
want to build one here too.
So this one will bear the highly distinguishing title…
#SHEA ULTIMATE S.O.S. PLAYLIST!
The S.O.S. part is State Of (the) #Shea abbreviated… it’s NOT
about saving anything; they’ve already saved themselves for now! If anything, think
of it as a playlist to save yourself as we wade through the time ahead
without any new TGD episodes. (We all know it might take longer than usual for
season 4 to start, right?)
The Playlist is going to be built almost ENTIRELY by readers—I
have some ideas myself, but they’ll probably amount to just a drop in the #Shea
ocean. So here’s what to know if you’ve got music suggestions of your own…
1) It
can be any song. Any genre. Any decade. It doesn’t even have to have lyrics,
though if it’s an instrumental I think we’d love to know what’s inspired you to
suggest it.
2) It
could have been featured on TGD itself… or used in someone’s YouTube video… or
not! Whatever the source is fine.
3) I
know some fans have LONG lists of ideas; I’m going to ask that you try to limit
your suggestions to your top SIX picks for now. Depending on how many
suggestions I get, that might change. (And of course just ONE song suggestion
is fine too!)
4) My
intent is to feature several Playlist submissions at a time in various blog
posts over the next several months. I would try to tag whoever is getting
featured in a particular post so they don’t miss it!
5) I
don’t do Spotify, or have a YouTube channel, but if anyone wants to take the
suggestions made here to an actual playlist, feel free! But please let me know
if you do, so I can spread the word.
6) This
isn’t a contest; I won’t ask you to pick favorites (though you can certainly
voice your support for one song or another via the comments). Hopefully everyone
will feel like they have a voice in this Playlist!
Here’s what I’d like you to include with each suggestion:
Song/Artist (both the original artist and cover artist, if
it’s a remake)
Where you learned of this song
The song lyrics, or a link to a lyric video
The lyrics that stand out the most to YOU with regards to
#Shea
What phase of the relationship do you think this song applies
to? (e.g. early days, a particular rough patch, current, the future?)
Is this from Shaun’s POV, Lea’s POV, both, or neither?
Essentially, I want you to share whatever you think is
important for people to know about this song. (But including as much from the
above list as you can would be helpful!)
HOW TO SUBMIT:
1) Email
me: KLawrence997-at-gmail-dot-com
2) OR,
DM me on Twitter…
3) OR,
post your full submission in the comments
(this would probably work better if
you only have a few songs, and are using a link for the lyrics)
I suspect some will simply want to Tweet their ideas to me.
If you go this route I MAY see them and MIGHT record them properly to use later,
but… no guarantee.
Any questions? Post them in the Comments, please.
HAVE FUN!

Oh, boy, this is gonna be fun!
Okay, limiting myself to 6, I'm gonna go with songs I've chosen for my own #Shea playlist, though of course I do have some of the songs played in canon for them (especially "Islands in the Stream" and "Send the Rain (To Everyone)").
1) "Tequila" by The Champs.
I don't think I have to spell out why I chose this one. :-D And the only lyrics are the word "Tequila!" being shouted 3 times in the course of the song.

2) "Friend Like You" by Joshua Radin.
I already shared this one with Kelli, and she agreed with me that it fits S1/S2 #Shea. I've been listening to him for years, and this song struck me when I was listening to the CD shortly after I learned that Paige Spara was returning and would be a regular going forward, and I would say it's about Shaun, and although it wasn't written for the show, it's a good summary of his early journey, S1/S2:
"I like the way you're not afraid
You've got the world planned in your mind
People say you cannot do
But they don't know a friend like you
"The girl you love has gone away
Still too young to know her heart
She'll return, her love renewed
'Cause she'll never find a friend like you
"When I had no one to call
All the world had shut me down
I showed up at your door so blue
Thank God I had a friend like you
"Many times I've gone without
A home, a meal, a pair of shoes
If you had three, you'd give me two
There ain't no other friend like you"

3)"Yours to Hold" by Skillet.
I first heard this song...I'm guessing around 2008 or '09, somewhere around there. Someone used it in a fan-made music video for Booth and Brennan from Bones that I saw at YouTube, which isn't there anymore, but I loved the song so much that I bought it, and all these years later, I can't rightly say the entire song fits for #Shea, because they know each other's names, but it reminds me of them, and I really put it into heavy rotation in my music library after "F&F" aired last December, although I will say that from "I don't care what happened in Hershey, but I care that YOU care," I've known that timing and being on the same page emotionally at the same time were going to be big factors in Shaun and Lea getting together if it was ever going to happen, which, of course, I've hoped since I found out she was coming back that they would. Knowing that Shaun had feelings for Lea, and, especially after "F&F," thinking to myself all those weeks that she ABSOLUTELY had feelings for him that went beyond just being best friends, I went around listening to, humming, and singing this song A LOT in January and February and March. And I still am. And I hope we get to see more hugs and holding each other and kissing and we actually get to see Shea wake up together at least once in S4. You can guess which parts of the song really remind me of how they feel about each other after reading the lyrics:
"I see you standing here
But you're so far away
Starving for your attention
You don't even know my name
You're goin' through so much
But I know that I could be the one to hold you
"Every single day
I find it hard to say
I could be yours alone
You will see someday
That all along the way
I was yours to hold
I was yours to hold
"I see you walking by
Your hair always hiding your face
I wonder why you've been hurting
I wish I had some way to say
You're goin' through so much
Don't you know that I could be the one to hold you?
"Every single day
I find it hard to say
I could be yours alone
You will see someday
That all along the way
I was yours to hold
I was yours to hold
"I'm stretchin', but you're just out of reach
You should know
I'm ready when you're ready for me
And I'm waiting for the right time
For the day I catch your eye
To let you know
That I'm yours to hold
"Every single day
I find it hard to say
I could be yours alone (yours alone)
You will see someday
That all along the way
I was yours to hold
I was yours to hold
"Every single day
I find it hard to say
I could be yours alone (you're so far away)
You will see someday
That all along the way
I was yours to hold
I was yours to hold
"I'm stretchin', but you're just out of reach
I'm ready when you're ready for me"

4) Nickelback gets a bad rap in the United States. I've never been sure why, and I admit, I haven't liked most of their recent stuff, but their 2005 album features one of my (way too many) all-time favorite songs, and when I was rewatching "I Love You" for the first time, every scene with Lea made me think of Nickelback's "Far Away." For me, this song said what she was feeling during that long night, and what she wanted most:
"This time, this place, misused, mistakes
Too long, too late, who was I to make you wait?
Just one chance, just one breath, just in case there's just one left
'Cause you know, you know, you know
"That I love you
And I have loved you all along
And I miss you
Been far away for far too long
I keep dreamin' you'll be with me and you'll never go
Stop breathin' if I don't see you anymore
"On my knees, I'll ask
Last chance for one last dance
'Cause with you, I'd withstand
All of Hell to hold your hand
I'd give it all, I'd give for us
Give anything, but I won't give up
'Cause you know, you know, you know
That I love you
And I have loved you all along
And I miss you
Been far away for far too long
I keep dreamin' you'll be with me and you'll never go
Stop breathin' if I don't see you anymore
"So far away, so far away, been far away for far too long
So far away, so far away, been far away for far too long
But you know, you know, you know
"I wanted
I wanted you to stay
'Cause I needed
I need to hear you say
That I love you, that I love you
And I have loved you all along
And I forgive you, and I forgive you
For bein' away for far too long
So keep breathin'
'Cause I'm not leavin' you anymore
Believe it
Hold on to me, never let me go
Keep breathin'
'Cause I'm not leavin' you anymore
Believe it
Hold on to me, never let me go
Keep breathin'
Hold on to me, never let me go
Keep breathin'
Hold on to me, never let me go"

5) "More" by Harry Connick, Jr.
Because Shaun and Lea make each other more.
More
Than the greatest love the world
Has known
This
Is the love I'll give to you
Alone
More
Than the simple words
I've tried to say,
I'll only live to love you
More each day
More than you'll ever know,
My arms long to hold you so.
My life will be in your keepin',
Wakin'... sleepin'... laughin'...weepin'
Longer
Than always is a long, long time,
But far beyond forever,
You'll be mine
I know I've never lived before,
And my heart is very sure
No one else could love you more
More than you'll ever know,
My arms long to hold you so.
My life will be in your keepin',
Wakin'... sleepin'... laughin'...weepin'
Longer
Than always is a long, long time,
But far beyond forever,
You'll be mine.
I know I've never lived before,
And my heart is very sure
No one else could love you more"
I couldn't find a lyric video for this one, but here's the song itself:

6) "Where You Are" by Gavin DeGraw
I have two songs by Gavin DeGraw on my personal #Shea playlist: "Follow Through" and "Where You Are." I could have included both, and maybe I'll get to share "Follow Through" at some other point, but because of everything that happened with Shaun and Lea from "F&F" to "I Love You," I'm gonna go with "Where You Are" for the last of my 6 songs here, because I feel like after all that happened in those 11 episodes, this is where #Shea are at with each other in that finale scene of "I Love You": they love each other, they're not afraid anymore, they've forgiven each other the pain they caused one another (or they will), and this is where they stand now: together.
"Well, everybody hurts
That's where we're all the same
We drive on through the worst
And push on through the pain
I'm standin' at your door
It's been a million miles
I'll be the first to say
I can't take anymore
And that I wanna be where you are
I feel the same as I did from the start
Oh, I wanna be where you are
And I'm willing to get there
There won't be any hearts breakin' again
This is the part where I stay where I stand
Oh, I wanna be where you are
Tell me you're with me so far
"So let this be the chance
The only one that counts
Your love will be my last
Until my life runs out
Until then, I won't rest
'Til then, I will not stop
Until I hear the words
All I need is a yes
"And that I wanna be where you are
I feel the same as I did from the start
Oh, I wanna be where you are
And I'm willing to get there
There won't be any hearts breakin' again
This is the part where I stay where I stand
Oh, I wanna be where you are
Tell me you're with me so far
"I am amazed
And I'm clutching to each word you say
Fall into space
Forgetting every mistake that I made
I'm beginning to change
As I feel all my fears slip away
And each look at you
Is a moment I choose to embrace
"And I wanna be where you are
I feel the same as I did from the start
Oh, I wanna be where you are
And I'm willing to get there
There won't be any hearts breakin' again
This is the part where I stay where I stand
Oh, I wanna be where you are
Tell me you're with me so far"

Hello Kelli!
I'm a Shea shipper who's been lurking on your blog for the last couple of months now. I've been meaning to comment for awhile but never really knew when it would be the right time, until now. This playlist idea is genius and I definitely have more than a few suggestions for it. So, to give some context (and shamelessly self plug) I'm the author of a Shea FanFic on AO3 called "It's What You Do To Me" which as the title implies takes inspiration from the song Hey There Delilah by the Plain White Ts. Not only do I just like this song but I feel it fits very well to Shaun and Lea's situation, the lyrics and melody tell a very bittersweet story about two people who are loyal to each other despite being separated by life and circumstances. The heartbreak of not being able to be together but still hanging onto that love because of this glimmer of hope that it can still be realized one day.
Hey There Delilah is romantic, but not very sexual, which I think is really important for Shea since their relationship goes much deeper than just physical attraction. The chorus "It's What You Do To Me" is an allegory for for the crux of Shaun and Lea's relationship, that they make each other more. They love each other because of what they do to each other, make one another the best versions of themselves, and by the time they've said and done everything they wanted to each other "the world will never ever be the same." It's a little overdramatic but Shaun and Lea both are. ;)

Thanks for the opportunity, Kelli! I've already enjoyed the comments and song suggestions so far! I decided to go across time and genres for my submission.
My "Shea Six-Pack" (each with a lyric video link):
1. "You Are The Woman" - Firefall
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wyR1basFYg
A "soft rock" / adult contemporary classic from the 70s that began with a flute. One I remember hearing countless times in grocery stores, doctors offices, on hold waiting for customer service, etc.
In the song, particularly the verses, the singer is mentioning how it's not just the "pretty face I see" or "the clothes you wear" or "the things you do", but how the woman makes the singer feel! Definitely a good one from Shaun's perspective - describing how it's the WHOLE of Lea and how he feels when she's in his life. The chorus mentions how the singer "knew it from the start". I like to see this as coming from OUR perspective :-)
2. Bless the Broken Road - Rascal Flatts
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZp6pmgbZyU
I spent a lot of my young adult years enjoying a mix of lighter Pop and Country, and this one happened to be a crossover hit that came out about a year before I graduated college. There are other versions out there, but this was by far the biggest.
Call this one a song from Lea's perspective - even though it's sung by a male group. In it, the singer recounts years of broken dreams, heartbreak and relationship fails; which ultimately proved to pave the way to their true love.
Some key lyrics that stand out to me (the chorus):
Every long-lost dream
Led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart
They were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way
Into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
3. The Power of Love – Huey Lewis and the News
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WK0z87WrhGo
I mentioned in a comment to a previous post that I was a big Back to the Future fan. Well, this song is the centerpiece of that movie trilogy. BUT – it’s also a great up-tempo love song that serves Shea well.
In it, the singer describes the emotional highs & lows, and the inherent fears and joys that come with love. The second verse goes:
First time you feel it might make you sad
Next time you feel it might make you mad
But you'll be glad, baby, when you've found
That's the power that makes the world go 'round
The chorus ends with:
“It’s strong and it’s sudden, it can be cruel sometimes
But it might just save your life
That’s the power of love!”
Lea and Shaun have DEFINITELY enjoyed the great highs, endured the lows, and are overcoming the fears. And we all get to share in the great joy for these two as we head into Season 4!
4. Crash and Burn – Savage Garden
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vghqO0bNY_g
Although not quite as popular as their big hits Truly Madly Deeply and I Knew I Loved You, I love how this song captures the mutual, symbiotic nature of Shaun and Lea’s relationship. A relationship that has seen the two be there for each other, just when they needed that companionship the most.
This song begins with an offer of assurance:
VERSE 1 (portion):
When you feel all alone
And the world has turned its back on you
Give me a moment, please
To tame your wild, wild heart
And the chorus, which contains the song title – and the companionship:
Let me be the one you call
If you jump, I’ll break your fall
Lift you up and fly away with you into the night
If you need to fall apart
I can mend a broken heart
If you need to crash, then crash and burn
You’re not alone
It’s Shaun and Lea’s ability to comfort, assure, balance, and reinforce each other that makes me such a huge fan of their relationship – and of this song for their relationship.
5. I Do – Paul Brandt
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dh23buR3jdc
I’m going back to my country library for this next one. It’s a tender ballad in which the singer assures his true love that despite her rocky past, she’s found the right place in him. Definitely a “Shaun’s perspective” song.
The song begins with this recognition and assurance:
I've seen the storm clouds in your past
But rest assured 'cause you are safe at home at last
I rescued you, you rescued me
And we're right where we should be
When we're together
And a very fascinating chorus that asks – and answers – a series of commitment questions.
Will I promise to be your best friend?
And am I here until the end?
Can I be sure I have been waiting for you?
And did I say my love is true?
Baby I will, I am, I can, I have, I do
It’s a chorus – and song – about loyalty and commitment. And a perfect one, in my mind, for a character to sing to someone who’s ALREADY his best friend (and he hers)!
6. Crazy for this Girl – Evan and Jaron
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VT7VCXX50Xs
One thing I appreciate greatly about the Shea journey is its natural, gradual build. We got to see Shaun’s feelings for Lea develop over the three seasons. Even so, it became clear very quickly that there was just something special about Lea.
This is an up-tempo Pop song from 2000, that touches on a lot of the things we’ve gotten to see throughout the Shea development!
The first verse begins with a very key Shaun and Lea moment - driving:
She rolls the window down
And she talks over the sound
Of the cars that pass us by
And I don't know why, but she's changed my mind
Considering that Shaun told Glassman in Season 1 that he didn’t even WANT love, I’d say that the driving and the “she’s changed my mind” lines are very apropos.
Then we get into the second verse, which reminds me of the “Friends and Family” ending all over again:
She was the one to hold me
The night the sky fell down
And what was I thinking when
The world didn't end, why didn't I know what I know now
And between the verses, a fun chorus that gives us the opportunity to recall their “looks” over the years:
Would you look at her, she looks at me
She's got me thinking about her constantly
But she don't know how I feel
And as she carries on without a doubt
I wonder if she's figured out
I'm crazy for this girl
Yeah, I'm crazy for this girl
Beautiful songs so far! I’ll stray a little from the flock by contributing a piece without lyrics, but I must admit, that interpreting lyrics is a skill I only learned recently due to TDG… I have been so far a fan of film music that tries to evoke emotions by instrumental music scores.
The 2009 stop motion animation “Mary and Max” is a film about a girl in Australia becoming pen pals with an autistic man in New York for 20 years. The film opens with a long montage depicting daily life in the suburbs. The accompanying instrumental is “Perpetuum Mobile” by Penguin Cafe Orchestra.
https://youtu.be/6E3znZoFnN8
The piece opens with wind section solemn and slow, then a playful, lively piano kicks in with the strings; the wind section answers and a dialogue ensues, the melody grows into something that is vitalizing and long-lasting, while it never gets out of control.
I like to think that the solemn wind section is representing Shaun and his new live in San Jose with strict routines and hard work at the start of season 1 and Lea as the sassy piano that knocks on his door and instantly they resonate with each other.
Over time, they learn to communicate better, as the melody unfolds and gets more and more animated, they grow on each other – they make each other more.
I also like Perpetuum Mobile for Shea because it has no “grand gestures” in it but flows in a measured pace, just as Shea has been a slow burn with small gestures (Who would ever have thought that the hanging of TP and alphabetized canned good could carry a deeper meaning through 2 entire seasons?!?).
Ahhh, sorry, I gave the link to the wrong version of Perpetuum Mobile. Here’s the link to the version I described above with the wind section opening the piece:
https://youtu.be/zguqSx-QN6Q
Tony,
I also have Evan and Jaron's "Crazy for This Girl" on my Shea playlist for the exact same reasons you listed! The first verse immediately made me think of the road trip from season 1, and "She was the one to hold me the night the sky fell down" perfectly sums up the ending scene of "Friends and Family" for me!
And "Crash and Burn" by Savage Garden is another song I'm familiar with and I agree with your analysis about why it's fitting for Shea.
Thanks Amy! I like having a fellow fan with at least a couple of songs in common!
I got a "bonus" song in my six-pack, thanks to you :-). Nickelback's "Far Away" resonated strongly with me for Shea after that 2-part finale and would have been in my 6.
I'll never understand why Nickelback gets such a bad rap in the United States. Like I said, I haven't enjoyed their more recent stuff, but from 2001 to 2007, they had some fantastic songs, and "Far Away" popped into my head the first time I was rewatching "I Love You," because it just seemed to me to perfectly summarize what especially Lea, but also Shaun, was feeling after "Hurt" and "I Love You."
Hi, Kelli!
and my fellow Shea fans!
This is my first time to comment, but I've been a loyal patron so far, thanks to Tony.
This song is, I think, very common or too common.. but it makes me think of that 3.20 kissing scene and for the future(?) no?

"Life is Beautiful" by Vega4
Life is beautiful
We live until we die
When you run into my arms
We steal a perfect moment
Let the monsters see you smile
Let them see you smiling
Do I hold you too tightly?
When will the hurt kick in?
Life is beautiful
But it's complicated
We barely make it
We don't need
To understand
There are miracles
Miracles
Yeah, life is beautiful
Our hearts
They beat and break
When you run away from harm
Will you run back into my arms?
Like you did when you were young
Will you come back to me?
And I will hold you tightly
When the hurting kicks in
Life is beautiful
But it's complicated
We barely make it
We don't need
To understand
There are miracles
Miracles
Stand
Where you are
We let all these moments
Pass us by
It's amazing where I'm standing
There's a lot that we can give
This is ours just for the moment
There's a lot that we can can give
It's amazing where I'm standing
There's a lot that we can give
This is ours just for the moment
There's a lot that we can give
@Amy D,
The Nickelback hate in the United States is a meme/running joke more than anything. I don't think they're anymore genuinely hated than any other pop band from the early 2000s. xD
@Kelli,
I've got another song to contribute to the playlist that I found on YouTube, "Enchanted" by Taylor Swift, thanks to this beautiful tribute video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leqnwcXGrQI
There I was again tonight forcing laughter, faking smiles
Same old tired, lonely place
Walls of insincerity
Shifting eyes and vacancy vanished when I saw your face
All I can say is it was enchanting to meet you
Your eyes whispered "have we met?"
Across the room your silhouette starts to make it's way to me
The playful conversation starts
Counter all your quick remarks, like passing notes in secrecy
And it was enchanting to meet you
All I can say is I was enchanted to meet you
This night is sparkling, don't you let it go
I'm wonder struck, blushing all the way home
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you
The song was written about Taylor Swift meeting Adam Young for the first time in person and becoming attracted to him. That tribute video I linked before made me realize how well it would apply to Shaun and Lea's first meeting too, a lot of very similar feelings between them I'd imagine. Two people living monotonous boring lives until running each other by pure chance where they feel an instant connection to one another, which only got stronger and more passionate the more they ran into each other, climaxing with the road trip in 1.11 "Islands Part 1". It's a great song that sums up Shaun and Lea's Season 1 relationship in my opinion. The magical early romantic period without all the baggage that came from Hershey or their attempts at trying to be platonic, just two soulmates embracing each other's company together.
Amy, Tony, and Faghost: excellent selections. The lyrics for each of the songs you mentioned feel spot on.
And CosmicLightning113, hello! Thanks for your amazing additions to this list and for your observations about Shea's relationship. I agree, "Hey There Delilah" fits their relationship well and given its melody and meaning I feel like it's a song that could be dropped smack dab into the shows official soundtrack because it fits the show's overall sound, too.
Andreas, I have to admit to sharing an affinity for instrumental/orchestral music, too. One of my favorite television composers is Michael Giacchino of "Lost." So, I quite enjoyed that orchestral piece from the film "Mary and Max." It's interesting how some songs seem to suit this pairing perfectly because of the lyrics, while it's easy to appreciate other musical pieces when they convey just as much meaning, yet with no articulated words.
With that said, I wish I had an instrumental or orchestral piece to contribute to this conversation, but I can't think of a single one at the moment. So, instead, I'm going to follow CosmicLightning113's lead and give a shoutout to the same FanVid editor of "Enchanted." This particular vid maker goes by the name of Sheree-Lynn Blizzard on YouTube, and they have published a number of beautiful #shea tribute videos on their channel. The most recent being "Fall on Me." This fanvid get's its title from the featured song, which itself is a duet performed by A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera. IMHO, the video does a great job of presenting Shaun and Lea's seperate perspectives by synchronizing edits with the solo performances of each singer to effectively convey each side of their story. For anyone who's interested, that video can be found here: https://youtu.be/eJb-ZbSQLYM .
Another Sheree-Lynn Blizzard tribute video that I would recommend is titled "Better," and features the song of the same name from the artist SYML. It's an early look at #shea and only features scenes from season one and two. But, in my opinion, the song and video captures the very essence of #shea and is well worth the watch. Here's the link : https://youtu.be/CxxEZwbIs8s
Amy! Cosmic Lightning 113! Tony! Andreas! Faghost! Angelica! And those I have heard from via email & DMs who might be reading!
HI :) (waving enthusiastically to all, especially the newest posters)
THANKS for all the suggestions thus far! I'm working on how to present them; I hope to post the first "installment" next week.
If you're a reader with ideas you haven't submitted yet, no rush... this will be an ongoing feature of the blog. Send them in whenever you're able!
If you're one of the readers with more than a "6-pack" of song ideas (thanks for that term Tony), hang on to them... I'll likely want to add bonus choices to the mix as we get into the summer months.
And I am a HUGE supporter of Sheree-Lynn Blizzard :)... thanks for mentioning her, Angelica... we'll be talking a lot more about her #Shea contributions in the coming weeks/months.
THANKS AGAIN and feel free to keep adding songs to this comment thread if you haven't proposed a full 6-pack yet :) I check the thread regularly!
Thanks to Angelica, who sent me the beautiful instrumental version, I stumbled on another song with lyrics that summarize all the relationship from 1.3 until the season 3 finale from Shaun’s POV.

SYML - "Better"
You came into the picture like a natural
You were unexpected, got me spiritual
I don't wanna say it, but maybe it was fate
And I can not contain it
And I know, and I know it's a different love
And I know, and I know that you make me better
It's a love that will keep me holding on
And I know, and I know we only get better
I came into your picture such a broken fool
A million different pieces looking back at you
Believe me when I say this, I was giving up
But now you come and save me
And I know, and I know it's a different love
And I know, and I know that you make me better
It's a love that will keep me holding on
And I know, and I know we only get better
Ohh, ay, ay, we only get better
Ohh, ay, ay, we only get better
Ohh, ay, ay, we only get better
Ohh, ay, ay, we only get better
Love can terrify, love can start a fire
Holding on tonight, we're burning like a lighter
Everything inside us burning with desire, now
And I know, and I know it's a different love
And I know, and I know that you make me better
You're enough and you keep me holding on
And I know, and I know we only get better
Ohh, ay, ay, we only get better
Ohh, ay, ay, we only get better
Ohh, ay, ay, we only get better
Ohh, ay, ay, we only get better
Oh, I LOVE "Better" by SYML! That IS a good Shea song, Andreas, you're right!
And “Better” ties into a dialogue Shaun has with Morgan about Lea in 3.17 “Fixation”:
MORGAN: Lea's right. She is needy and selfish. Find someone who loves you the way you are.
SHAUN: People always say that, but shouldn't we be with someone who makes us a better version of ourselves?
