The Way to San Jose, Part 3: The Journey Continues... (For Some)

So much to say about the past 4 days of skating in San Jose! And over in Sheffield last week! And up in Moncton before that! Whew!

What do YOU want to talk about? The return of JereMEEE? The determination and triumph of Ashley? The surprise of Rockne and Mary Beth? The battle for the spot eventually earned by Madison and Zachary?

And then there was the coverage to consider. What did we think of NBC this time around? How about IceNetwork? How about Johnny Weir and IceNetwork?

Have you caught up with Europeans yet? (um, no, other than to know who won…)

How about Canadians? (uh, see previous answer…)

And to think, 4CCs are already less than two weeks out!

I’ll post some observations over the next few days… but please post some of your own in the meantime… a question so nice I’ll ask it twice: what do YOU want to talk about?

(Because otherwise you'll just have to hear about what I want to say... blah, blah, blah)

I'm pretty excited about four continents and worlds this year, since IceNetwork will be streaming both live so I'll actually get to watch. It will be interesting to see how Ashley fares at 4CC and if she really can compete with the best in the world now that she has the confidence booster of being national champion.

I'm also thrilled that Caroline Zhang gets another chance to compete internationally before her season ends. It really is like she and Mirai Nagasu have traded places this season...

Sara, I'm still catching up on some of my IceNetwork viewing... haven't heard Sarah yet. Was she doing interviews?

I only watched her during the ladies competition(she may have given interviews, I'm not sure), but she seemed very lethargic, like maybe she was really tired or something? I don't know, maybe it's just me?

I'd like to talk about Lynn and Logan. I'm really impressed with them. I only just took notice of them last year and I'm loving their music choices and choreography. They have insane lifts and their musicality is top-notch. Of the three teams vying for that third spot, they were definitely my favorite and I hope they don't turn into perennial fourth place finishers.

Also I have to say I was quite impressed with Johnny's commentating during the men's free skate. He gave very insightful comments - I think at one point he even mentioned when a spin gets a level four. I was a little annoyed with him during the short program only because he didn't seem to be focusing on the skating as much as the costuming and grooming of the skaters.

I think Ashley Wagner did a good job on her performance. Do you know what her score was?

I'd like to discuss Ruby and Logan. I'm really satisfied with them. I only just took observe of them last season and I'm nurturing their songs alternatives and choreography. They have crazy raises and their sound is top-notch. Of the three groups fighting for that third identify, they were definitely my preferred and I wish they don't develop into definite 4th position finishers.
